If this pizza could talk, it would probably say a lot of cheesy things…….
Grilling pizzas on our Traeger Grill turned out so much better than anticipated. I’m still mad at Jacob that it’s taken us this long to try out… I’m sure it’s his fault somehow.

If you have a Traeger grill, any kind of smoker, or even just a regular oven, you must try making your own pizza! To make this super easy pizza, you can buy everything pre-made and then just throw it on the grill. You could literally even get a Walmart deli pizza and grill it, but that’s borderline cheating.
However, I would strongly suggest a pizza stone after reading recipes and instructions on Traeger’s website. We also have a gigantic grill spatula that I’m pretty sure was a gag gift that came in handy, but who’s laughing now?
I already have a pizza stone and our big grill spatula is almost identical to this, so I’d definitely snag this 3 piece set off Amazon for $35 if you want to make this pizza in 2 days.
All you need is Pillsbury pizza crust, mozzarella cheese, pepperonis and marinara sauce. I never have marinara sauce on hand, but I ALWAYS have the stuff to make my own. It’s super simple! It’s probably not authentic marinara, but no one complained.
To make your own marinara: heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic, minced shallot (optional), a hint of red pepper flakes, a dash of Herbs de Provence, or your favorite Italian seasoning. Stirring not to burn, pour in a can of tomato sauce and once it starts to bubble, reduce to low heat. Add a little salt and pepper to taste.
A little secret; I do that first step of heating oil with some herbs before any jarred red sauce. Gives it a little bit more flavor.
One last thing, you must have cornmeal or breadcrumbs. You will need to make sure there is a layer of cornmeal or crumbs on the pizza stone so the crust doesn’t stick. This is necessary!!! I mixed a cup of breadcrumbs with a little bit of flour and it gave our crust the PERFECT crispy texture.
Grilling pizza at home is so easy and fun that it has definitely became part of our rotation! Does anyone else grill pizzas regularly at home?
I also LOVE Neapolitan-style pizza, would anyone be interested in my Caramelized Onion & Burrata pizza? Let me know!!
Grilled Pepperoni Pizza
Ingredients:
1 Pillsbury Pizza Crust, stretched evenly into a circle
1 C. Marinara sauce, or homemade
1-2 C. Mozzarella Cheese
½ C. Parmesan Cheese
1 Package Pepperonis (use as many damn pepperonis as your heart desires)
Directions:
1. Pre-heat your smoker to 500 degrees.
2. It’s suggested to heat your pizza stone on the grill, but I don’t have a pizza peel so we had to do this the amateur’s way.
You need a thin layer of cornmeal or breadcrumbs under your dough so it does not stick to the pizza stone. We prepare the dough directly on the pizza stone. Sue us.
(Just don’t cut it on the stone!)
3. Layer with sauce, then mozzarella, then pepperonis.
4. Grill for 13-15 minutes. Remove with your new giant spatula (above & below) and devour!
