Friday!!!! And I know, who wants to eat a freaking detox salad on the weekend??
Listen, I’ve been eating this salad basically every day because it’s so good and SO EASY. It’s full of super potent superfoods, and it’s just needed right now in the midst of all the wine and beer drinking. And all of these ingredients are easy to find.
Feel free to mix in a salad every once in a while, your gut will thank you.
Also, just keep these ingredients chopped up in your fridge and you have salad at your fingertips.
We all know I love my pasta and carbs, but I really do get to the point where I start craving a big cold salad with lots of stuff on it. You could say that this little detox salad is a mini version of a chop salad because of all the veggies; you get a lot of crunch in each bite.
You can really use whatever vegetables are your favorite, whatever is in the fridge that you need to get rid of, or you can make it exactly like I’m directing here.
So, what’s in it that makes it a “detox salad”? All. Raw. Vegetables. No meat. Nothing processed. Whole, clean ingredients.

Meat is fine in my book, but it can be hard to digest so for that reason I like to omit it especially when trying to do a little detox.
Romaine and arugula as the base. My two favorites in the salad business.
Red onions. Onions are highly antibacterial and help promote digestion.
Carrots. Known for being high in beta-carotene and lutein, carrots promote healthy eyesight. Not only that, but they’re impressively full of antioxidants which fight off cancer causing free radicals in our bodies.
Cilantro. Another antioxidant rich herb that is known to be a great detoxifier as it rids heavy metals from the brain and body.
Avocados. Also high lutein and great for vision, avocados are packed with healthy fats like omega 9 which are mega players in the heart health game. My family suffers from chronic heart disease, so avocados are a no brainer in my diet.
Lemon juice. An incredibly low-calorie natural salad dressing additive, lemon juice is great for alkalizing your body. I like to squeeze fresh lemon juice into cold water, especially right before I break a fast.
So, there you have it. That is all the main ingredients of this super salad. I like to use about a tablespoon of red wine vinegar, a teaspoon of toasted sesame oil, and a couple teaspoons of Everything but the Bagel seasoning on top of the avocado as the “dressing”.
Oh, and some freshly cracked black pepper. That’s it! This salad would also be great with some chickpeas in it to provide a more hearty meal.
Or, you can buy Lavash wraps and make this whole salad into a perfect wrap. I also LOVE these & these wraps, too. This wrap version has also been on rotate in my kitchen because momma needs her carbs.
