A Perfect Day In Paris

Updated: Mar 23, 2022

I’ve been thinking about my favorite day in Paris lately. It started and ended with food from heaven, so please, enjoy a picture diary of a perfect day in Paris.

Waking up at Hotel Lutetia in Paris was exactly what I dreamed it would be like.

Book private transportation from Paris airports Charles de Gaulle and/or Orly, including private transportation and a professional, English speaking driver right here on Viator.com.

We had a beautiful courtyard view with the picturesque Parisian hotel building surrounding our view. Only so many places can you enjoy the views of the hotel facade alone.

We only took advantage of dining at Lutetia once, for breakfast. (Although we frequented Bar Josephine).

Perfect mini baguettes and poached eggs with smoked salmon. Lord have mercy on me!!!!

If you didn’t know by now, we (I) plan our trips and the days activities around restaurants I want to try. I make reservations as much as possible, but Jacob doesn’t like having a tight schedule at all times. Eye roll.

A perfect day in Paris is complete with a trip to Montmartre (in the 18th arrondissement, in the Northern part of the city).

We walked from our hotel in the 6th arrondissement in the center of Paris, which is honestly a TREK… But like I mentioned, we like to eat so we needed the exercise.

We planned a couple of stops along the way to look at monuments like the Opera House and Galeries Lafayette, so it took us a couple hours to reach our destination…. If you walk this route, you can also walk past the Louvre museum.

You can pass through Pigalle, the old red-light district which still features several “gentleman’s” clubs with some not so subtle titles. It’s really entertaining.

Our destination, another fabulous restaurant. Pink Mamma was the #1 spot on my "must eat" list; they didn’t take reservations for the weekend. I NEEDED to eat at Pink Mamma.

It’s aesthetic is spot on with food to match. It's part of an Italian owned restaurant group called Big Mamma Group. We also ate at another one of their spots called East Mamma in the 11th Arrondissement; equally as amazing.

(See last photo below)

Back to Pink Mamma. I had the most amazing meal of our entire trip: “piggy bolognese”. Essentially ground pork bolognese that was utter perfection.

After you devour an epic meal at Pink Momma, work off some calories at its neighbor the Pigalle basketball court. Yes Pigalle like the Louboutin shoe, and yes basketball like Michael Jordan. There is a basketball attire shop nearby.

Continue to saunter around hilly Montmartre, perhaps the most untouched version of old Paris. It is so dreamy. I gush about it on my original Paris post.

The great writers, artists, and thinkers of the 1700’s lived in Montmartre; think Picasso, Monet, and Van Gogh.

Also housed in Montmartre is the Sacre-Coeur, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. It is HUGE and its white exterior is sharp against the contrast of the blue sky. It’s really astounding to see….

It sets at the very top of a hill overlooking all over Paris, and again, it is SO big. It is a must see when in Paris. We didn’t pay to go in and climb to the top, but you can for an even more epic view.

Want to book Montmartre Tours? Here are a few suggestions that you can book through my links on Viator.com!

Montmartre Tours

  • Montmartre Food & Wine Tour Includes a tour guide pointing out landmarks and up to 10 gourmet food stops, AND alcohol is included. Yahtzee!

  • Hidden Montmartre Walking Tour Includes a small group private tour with an intimate look at Montmartre's landmarks and hidden secrets alike.

  • Moulin Rouge, Love Wall, Sacre Coeur Includes views of iconic Montmartre landmarks such a Moulin Rouge, Picasso's studio, the Le Mur des Je t'aime (The Wall of Love), and much more.

  • Romantic Montmartre - Oh la la! Includes scenes of the most iconic romantic scenes in Montmartre like the Le Mur des Je t'aime and learn all about the French art of seduction! A must if you want full charm of romantic Paris.

Beware of pick-pocketer’s around the Sacre-Coeur, this area is notorious for them. It’s not dangerous, just be aware of your surroundings.

Other notable sights in Montmartre are the Love Wall, the Montmartre Vineyard (the one functioning vineyard in all of Paris), and the ultra famous restaurants Le Maison Rose and Le Consulat.

We didn’t eat or grab drinks at either place, both were packed and I read they’re very over-priced which is to be expected.

Be sure to stop at several street side brasserie or patisseries for a glass of wine and a piece of bread or a small plate to share.

We drank so much wine and beer in Paris… So much.

After a full day of walking (10+ miles each day), taking a soak in our luxurious bathtub was the ultimate way to end a perfect day in Paris.

The entire bathroom in our hotel room was covered in marble, it was just spectacular. Everything about Hotel Lutetia was 5-star.

The staff was incredibly helpful; they made sure we got fair exchange rates, gave us their contact information each time we left and requested directions, the bar staff in Bar Josephine were unreal. The whole experience will truly be hard to beat.

I already mentioned I wrote an overly long post all about our 3 days spent in Paris on our trip to Europe to celebrate our 6th anniversary in September 2019….. Just a few months shy of a global shutdown.
